Truth, Racial Healing, and Transformation in Our Communities Town Hall

On September 24th, 2020 The Shriver Center's Choice Program hosted a Truth, Racial Healing, & Transformation in our Communities Town Hall to inform the campus community of UMBC's connection to the TRHT framework and ways in which they could contribute to racial equity work. Attendees were also introduced to the TRHT Congressional Resolution (H.Con.Res.100), which advocates for the establishment of a United States Commission on Truth, Racial Healing, and Transformation.

With 437 participants in attendance, the event began with a drum call from our community partner, WombWorks Productions, and featured talks from UMBC's president, Dr. Freeman Hrabowski, TRHT leaders, community partners, faculty members, and students.

The town hall concluded with a poll asking whether UMBC should support the Congressional Resolution or not. Attendees unanimously voted to support the resolution, which resulted in a letter of support to congress from university leadership on the National Day of Racial Healing.
