Office of Equity and Inclusion

UMBC Inclusion Council

We are grateful for the work of the Inclusion Council. For more than a year, ten working groups, made made up of over 150 students, faculty, staff, and alumni compiled this series of recommendations on how the University can advance its mission of social justice.

With guidance from the council, the Office of Equity and Inclusion compiled the findings into the The 2020-2021 Inclusion Council Recommendation Report. We are also making the full reports of each committee available

The recommendations in the report cover a broad range of topics related to our community including:

  • Alignment of Economic Decisions and Values

  • Bias, Microaggressions, Intersectionality, Engagement, Training and Education

  • Communications

  • Conflict Resolution and Restorative Practices

  • Curriculum

  • Faculty and Staff Diversity, Recruitment, Retention, and Belonging

  • Policing and Safety

  • Sexual Misconduct, Harassment, and Interpersonal Violence

  • Student Recruitment, Enrollment, Retention And Belonging
